ltd 20216 repress ! italian producers steve murphy and dj octopus are regular collaborators, and earlier this year released an excellent split ep on chiwax. here, they return to the much adored german imprint with a proper collaborative four-tracker. theres much to admire, from the rush-inducing bounce of opener track 1 and mr lee-ish cheekiness of track 2 (check the 89 style riff, snappy drum machine groove and cut-up vocal samples), to the impeccable depth and sun-drenched warmth of the decidedly wide-eyed track 3. arguably best of all, though, is track 4, which reimagines sir james 1990 strictly rhythm classic special as an immersive chicago deep house jam.

simo cell returns to livity sound for the label�s final release of 2016. following up his debut 12� for the label in 2015, the parisian brings his varied tastes to this diverse four tracker. from the hazy bumping rhythms of �gliding� to the pulsating strobed snare assault of �away from keyboard�, these razor edge productions demonstrate exactly why he�s been tipped by so many as one to watch.

after a considerable career releasing on numerous labels, as well as being co-founder of essen based label mild pitch, langenberg finally drops his first album under this alias. max heesen, (who is also one half of ribn with manuel tur) delivers the smartly titled central heated house for steve bug�s dessous recordings. the lp format suits langenbergs hypnotic house classicism well, allowing time and space to stretch out the grooves and moods over four sides of vinyl working both for the djs and perfect as a soundtrack for the autumn. the lp kicks off with jade, a melancholic, tape saturated introduction to langenbergs deep tastes. room 210 maintains this atmosphere, with fizzing percussion and warm detroit-esque melodies. groove 26 is perfectly timed for the hot summer, as lush rhodes chords and kdj style vocal snippets provide the heat for the openair vibes. the single from earlier this year shadows features the talents of vocalist blakkat, and caused some serious response when it hit airwaves and dancefloors alike. never worry is a heads down roller, built around a simple but perfectly executed bassline, while dreamliner is trippy laidback sunshine house all the way. ill be late and planitz proposal step back into the club, with langenbergs signature crisp percussion, crunchy hits and analog synth wizardry on full display. rain & roses closes out the album in a similar way to how it started wistful, thoughtful house music with soul.

nice price deal !!! first solo release from bauri in 12 years! the swedish underground veteran has dug up four of his strongest tracks from the vaults, never before released on vinyl (if at all). timeless techno in its purest form!

a bonafide legend of chicago house and techno, dj skull has done the business since the early days on all manner of labels, and he s still on it now. shoring up at mentha for this no-nonsense four tracker, skull is on especially deep form here as he heads inwards with the subtle shuffle of -accent- and the insistent melodic mantras of -on the double-. the story is no different on the b side, although -rythmic- sports a more sprightly set of drums in amongst the strafing synth lines before -the unknown land- turns out one of the more eerie jack tracks of our time.

makam returns to dekmantel records with his first full-length album for the amsterdam based label. blankens ongoing search for fresh sounds, textures and rhythms has lead him to than sadet, a gorgeous piece of work that takes his sound into new directions. that sadet displays a refinement of makams sound. the music is highly tactile, with an emphasis on the surroundings of the environment in which it was created. blanken: than sadet is a secluded beach on an island in thailand. a mysterious atmosphere haunts it. its windy and the weather is always a bit worse compared to the rest of the isle. there are many cliffs and you cant swim because the waves are too high. four years ago i visited than sadet for the first time and ive been coming back ever since. at one point i decided to bring my studio equipment. for a week, i dedicated my days to making music. those sketches formed the basis of the album.
